VISITOR VISAS
Visit Australia for a holiday, to spend time with family or undertake permitted business activities with professional guidance throughout your subclass 600 visa application.
The appropriate subclass 600 stream depends on your reason for travelling, whether you are applying from inside or outside Australia and whether an eligible family member will formally sponsor your visit.
For people visiting Australia for a holiday, cruise or to spend time with family and friends. Applications may be available from inside or outside Australia, depending on the applicant’s circumstances.
For applicants outside Australia who are formally sponsored by an eligible Australian citizen or permanent resident family member.
For short visits involving permitted business activities such as attending conferences, making business enquiries or negotiating contracts.
A strong Visitor Visa application should clearly explain the purpose of the trip, how the visit will be funded and why the applicant intends to leave Australia after their authorised stay.
We assess your purpose of travel, passport, location, immigration history, family circumstances, financial position and intended length of stay to identify the appropriate visitor pathway.
We provide a tailored checklist and help organise financial documents, employment or study evidence, travel plans, accommodation details, invitation letters and evidence of your reasons to return home.
We prepare and review your subclass 600 application, supporting statements and evidence to ensure your purpose, circumstances and travel plans are presented clearly and consistently.
We lodge the application, monitor its progress, assist with information requests and keep you informed until a decision is received.
An electronic visitor option for eligible passport holders travelling to Australia for tourism or permitted business visitor activities.
A visitor option for eligible European passport holders travelling to Australia for tourism, family visits or permitted business visitor activities.
A temporary visa that may allow eligible parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens to visit Australia for a longer period.
Applicants must demonstrate that they are genuine temporary visitors, have enough money or financial support for their stay and intend to undertake only activities permitted by the visa. Health, character, immigration history and other requirements may also apply.
Depending on the stream and individual circumstances, a Visitor Visa may allow a stay of three, six or twelve months. The Department determines the authorised stay period and whether the visa allows single or multiple entry. Receiving the full period requested is not guaranteed.
A Visitor Visa does not provide general work rights. Tourist stream holders may generally study or train for up to three months, but a Student Visa may be more appropriate if study is the primary purpose of travel. Business Visitor stream holders may undertake permitted business visitor activities but cannot work for an Australian business or sell goods or services directly to the public.
An invitation letter may support a Tourist stream application when visiting family or friends, but it does not guarantee approval. Formal sponsorship is required for the Sponsored Family stream, and the sponsor may be asked to provide a security bond.
There are many other reasons why Australian visa applications get refused including:
There is no single bank balance that guarantees approval. Applicants should demonstrate access to enough money for flights, accommodation, daily expenses and their planned activities. The amount required will depend on the length and circumstances of the visit and whether another person will provide financial support.
